Position Overview

Pantheon Data is seeking a Senior AWS DevSecOps Engineer to design and operate in a secure, cloud-native platforms within AWS GovCloud. This role focuses on supporting ML-enabled workloads and applications processing CUI, PII, and PHI. The candidate will automate gated security controls across CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Advanced Security (GHAS) or GitLab CI/CD and administrate production-grade Amazon EKS clusters via GitOps methodologies under strict federal compliance frameworks (NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, DoD SRG).

Responsibilities

Secure Infrastructure: Design hardened AWS GovCloud environments using Terraform, ensuring alignment with NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP baselines.Kubernetes & GitOps: Manage lifecycle, networking, and security for Amazon EKS clusters. Orchestrate deployments using Helm charts and GitOps tools (e.g., Argo CD or Flux) to ensure declarative state management.Secure CI/CD Engineering: Design and implement robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or GitLab CI/CD. Integrate and configure GitHub Advanced Security (GHAS) and additional relevant tools, including CodeQL for SAST, secret scanning, and dependency review.ML Workload Support: Deploy and scale containerized ML mode

Job Description
Join an exciting opportunity to bring modern software to the Navy\'s warfighters.
We are looking for a DevSecOps Engineer to stand up and maintain infrastructure and pipelines in both the cloud, and on-premise air-gapped environments. They should also have hands-on experience with at least one production distribution of Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines (above and beyond build pipelines), and with at least one cloud provider. Experience maintaining and upgrading infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters is desired. They should also be familiar with at least one pipeline orchestrator (Gitlab, Jenkins, Github). Experience with Python or another scripting language is also desirable. Must have some experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation.

In this role you will be responsible for:

Design, build and manage secure, scalable infrastructure solutions, including complex cluster architectures and automated workflows.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams such as cybersecurity specialists, ML engineers, and consultants to deliver integrated technical solutions.
Develop and implement automation solutions using Ansible, GitOps, and related tools to streamline DevOps and DevSecOps processes.
Support continuous improvement of security processes and tooling, driving DevSecOps best practices throughout development and operations.
Provide hands-on technical contribution, taking ownership of initiatives and working autonomously while contributing to team success.

This role is remote in Germany.

Essential:

Hands-on experience in DevSecOps or related engineering roles, with practical skills in cloud and security-driven automation.
Strong expertise with Kubernetes and cluster architecture, as well as familiarity with DevOps automation tools (e.g., Go, Python, Ansible, GitOps workflows).
Ability to creatively solve problems and independently drive technical topics forward.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain security issues clearly to technical teams and stakeholders in both German and English – minimum C1 level German
Analytical and structured approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement of security practices.
