Overview
GovCIO is currently hiring for a QA Automation Engineer to drive quality engineering efforts through automation, API testing, and emerging AI‑assisted validation techniques that enhance delivery speed and product reliability. This will be a fully remote within the United States position.

Responsibilities
Testing Activities
Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases, scenarios, and scripts.

Perform functional, system, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing.

Conduct API, interface, data transfer, and web-services testing using tools such as ReadyAPI, Postman, Wave, and AMP.

Execute end-to-end Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) tasks including defect logging, verification, and root cause analysis.

Perform database testing using SQL queries and simple scripts.

Test Planning, Process & Documentation
Develop comprehensive test plans that align to user stories, acceptance criteria, and integration requirements.

Implement established testing processes and ensure compliance across all test activities.

Track and report test metrics, test execution results, and test progress.

Manage defect reporting and maintain a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM).

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement through failure, throughput, and yield analysis.

Tools & Technology
Hands-on experience building and maintaining automation frameworks using one or more of the following: Cypress, Playwright, Selenium (JAVA), or AI-assisted testing tools.

Use Jira to manage sprint-based testing artifacts and Xray for structured test execution.

Utilize AWS Cloud environments and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Nexus, and GitHub.

Support execution of automated testing based on program needs and manager discretion.

Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with development, requirements, and cross-functional teams

As a Test Automation Engineer (m/f/d), you will be responsible for building and maintaining automated tests that ensure the reliability and performance of our web-based software products.

You will work closely with developers and product teams to integrate testing directly into the development workflow and help deliver stable, high-quality releases.

What is your Day to Day Mission:

• Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites for web applications (UI, API, and integration levels)

What you bring to the team:

• 3+ years of experience in test automation or software engineering

• Strong programming skills (e.g., TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, or similar)

• Hands-on experience with modern automation tools such as:

  1. Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar

  2. Solid understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, browser behavior, APIs)

  Nice to Have:

• Experience testing REST APIs and working with tools like Postman or similar

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)

• Basic frontend development experience (React, Angular, Vue, or similar)

• Experience with test architecture/design patterns (Page Object Model, fixtures, etc.)

• Ability to debug issues across the stack (frontend ↔ backend ↔ test code)

• Knowledge of performance or load testing

About your role

As a QA Engineer at Juniper Square, you will collaborate with the product and engineering teams to help define and drive our manual and automation testing efforts. You must be detail oriented, passionate about product quality, and a strong advocate for the end user experience.

Qualifications

Compensation

Compensation for this position includes a base salary, equity and a variety of benefits. The U.S. base salary range for this role is 110,000 - 130,000 USD and the Canadian base salary range for this role is 130,000 - 150,000 CAD. Actual base salaries will be based on candidate-specific factors, including experience, skillset, and location, and local minimum pay requirements as applicable.

We are looking for a Mid-Level QA Automation Engineer to join our UI-heavy Catalog team who takes personal ownership of product quality, ensuring that every solution we deliver is stable, performant, and backed by clear documentation. What you will do:

• Full-Stack Automation: Develop and maintain end-to-end test suites using Playwright (TypeScript) that cover both complex UI interactions and the underlying API logic.


• API Rigor: Design and execute sophisticated API tests (integration and contract testing) to validate request/response payloads, status codes, and data consistency across our microservices.
