Scope of RoleWe are seeking a seasoned Director of Engineering in the WEX OTR organization. This role will lead engineering efforts for core services supporting OTR experiences products.

OTR is a global team based in the USA, India, and Brazil. OTR systems provide fleet management and payments-centric SaaS solutions to a wide range of customers. These solutions enable modernization of web applications, credit issuance for fleet companies, and intelligent spend controls for fleet operations.

This role will play a key part in leading initiatives that involve building AI-driven agents from the ground up, while also driving the development of scalable backend systems and APIs that power OTR products.

JOB DESCRIPTIONFOX Forward Deployed is an 12-month rotational program that embeds early-career engineers inside the teams responsible for FOX’s biggest, most-watched moments.

You will complete two six-month deployments across Streaming, Sports, News, AI systems, and shared platforms. You will contribute directly to production systems used by millions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Software Engineer in the FOX Forward Deployed program, you will rotate across two engineering teams embedded within core business units across Sports, News, FOX One, AI, Revenue Platforms, and shared platform organizations. You will work inside the teams that own the systems, partnering directly with engineers, product leaders, AI specialists, and business stakeholders to solve real operational problems and ship alongside them.

You will design, build, and deploy production systems that power consumer facing products and enterprise platforms across the FOX ecosystem. From live sports and breaking news to AI systems and shared infrastructure, you will operate in high visibility environments where performance, reliability, scale, deadlines, and real time delivery are non-negotiable. Systems must perform under pressure, and your work will have a measurable impact.

You will operate in an AI native engineering environment leveraging agentic development platforms such as Claude Code, Codex, Replit, Loveable, OpenHands, Letta, Devin, Kiro, and Windsurf, alongside enterprise AI and data platforms including AWS

IMC is embedding agentic AI directly into the developer workflow for our production-critical systems. As a member of the Agentic AI engineering team, you’ll help build agents, MCP servers, and evaluation loops that make AI-generated code reliable, auditable, and fast to ship. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers and platform teams to deliver pragmatic, high-impact AI integrations at scale.

What You’ll Do
• Contribute to the platform by implementing agents, MCP servers, and supporting services that propose and apply changes to large codebases
• Assist in developing retrieval systems that give AI agents and developers accurate, up-to-date context from large codebases and design artifacts
• Help measure and improve AI-generated changes by building compile/test/evaluate pipelines (static analysis, style and safety checks, performance gates, code review)
• Apply IMC’s best practices in concurrency, telemetry, configuration hygiene, and performance-sensitive code paths to ensure AI outputs are reliable and idiomatic
• Collaborate with teammates on experiments to evaluate and improve AI-driven workflows

What You Bring
• BS+ in Computer Science (or related) with strong fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, systems)
• Proficiency in a high-level programming language (Java or Python preferred)
• Experience contributing to developer-facing or production systems
• Curiosity and eagerness to learn about AI/LLM application patterns, even if you haven’t worked closely with them yet
• Strong communication skills; comfortable working with engineers in a fast, collaborative environment

Nice to Have
• Exposure to AI tools or workflows (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, or similar)
• Experience with retrieval systems (vector search, embeddings, or hybrid approaches)
• Familiarity with compiler/static analysis or large-scale refactoring tools
• Interest in customizing or fine-tuning open-weight models
• Knowledge of model-serving or evaluation infrastructure
